Are you Busy?
I often write about handling conflict, trials, life’s little blips, and of course keeping life simple. What makes working through these issues so important to our spiritual walk with God is that when our minds are filled with trying to resolve all those negative curves thrown in front of us and manage a consistently chaotic life, we have less time and energy to place our eyes fully upon Jesus and our most important goal in life…a deep and initimate relationship with Him.
Today I saw a video that my friend Tammy sent me. It really speaks to how a busy life can be the ultimate distraction and downfall of a life devoted to serving Him. What I finished the video I came away with a clear understanding of just how easy it is to become distracted by what the world puts out there for us. I am going to try to post this video here for you, but this is my first time with video, so bare with me.
This time of year Satan works over time to keep us distracted from our Savior. He puts all types of trappings out there for us. They are disguised so well, that we often cannot discern what is worthy of our time and thus find ourselves spending more time doing works and activities than in worship, praise, and study. Pray ont his issue over the next few weeks as you go about your busy holiday schedule. Can you scale back? Can you do less shopping and more family prayer? Can you make time to have fun and engage in Advent activiteis with your kids, instead of asking them to entertain themselves while you accomplish tasks? YES YOU CAN!
Start each and every day in conversation with God and ask Him to send teh Holy Spirit to help remind you to keep your focus on Him and not a busy life. Be there for your friends and help them to maintain their focus as well. Ask a friend if she will be your CHRISTmas accountability partner. Whenever one of you notices the other getting weary and trapped by the busy of the world, mention it in an edifying way and offer to pray with her at that very moment. Matthew 18:20 tells us that when two or more gather in His name, He is there! Hallelujah!
These are my thoughts.
