Purposeful Planning for a Year of Staying Motivated and Inspired
Right about now, you likely are still feeling energized and motivated while you are on your way to planning for becoming healthy in all areas of your life, including your family. Statistics, which in this case are accurate, show that by March 1 of any given year most people have abandoned their goals completely, or have fallen into a stagnant state. Think back to other year long goals you have had in the past. How long have you stayed inspired and motivated? The problem with this is that many goals are left unaccomplished and often times you feel overwhelmed and defeated in the process. This year can be different!
Several years ago I met a marvelous woman who taught me a method of planning for a year that was simple, effective, and easily got me re-invigorated when I became overwhelmed or felt lost along the journey. Phyllis Sather is an excellent mentor for purposefully planning for your family for an entire year and sticking to it. The method is so simple, but the rewards are far reaching and long lasting. The first thing Phyllis recommends is planning a time that you and your husband can get together for a couple of days and focus on planning out your year. In preparation for this you and your husband both come up with an outline of topics to be discussed. Our topics have varied as have the size of sub goals in each category each year. However, Phyllis’s method is so concise and easy to use that when you begin to feel derailed, it is simple to grab those reigns and pull yourself back on track. Staying motivated and inspired is an essential key to accomplishing goals for your family for an entire year.
Our main goal at Simple Journey Ministries for 2011 is Living to be Healthy. This encompasses achieving health in all areas of your life, such as spirit, body, food, relationships, mind, family finance, home, and schedules. Accomplishing such a large project as this is done step by step, one day at a time, in a comprehensive manner that will result in a more healthy family by the end of this year. There will be times when it may seem an insurmountable task. You may lose your way, become weary, or forget some of your goals. With the help of Phyllis’s Purposeful Planning, you can achieve your goals this year! She will help you to formulate a plan with your husband that will keep you motivated and inspired all year long.
