Organize Your Make-up

Organizing your make-up can be easy, but it can also be complex, depending on what you have available in your bathroom for storage. Many have a shallow and narrow drawer in which they have to store their make-up. Some may just throw it in the drawer. Others may have several drawers in the bathroom vanity to separate make-up from hair brushes, hair accessories, etc. Still other bathrooms don’t have any drawers, but are equipped with a closet only. You can see how this can affect how to organize your make-up in an efficient way. But it isn’t just the organization we need to deal with. We also need to consider the forethought of how to keep up with the organization and the periodic cleaning of the space. PHEW! What seemed so simple became complex very quickly. Here’s an idea that is adaptable, quick, easy, and best of all…it’s FREE!

Save cereal boxes. If you don’t purchase cereal, you can save boxes from other items that are narrow. Next, asses how many boxes you can get into your drawer(s). If you do not have drawers to work with, have no fear. Use the box from some type of item like a case of water bottles or a larger box that you can cut down in height. This will serve as a drawer in which you can place your other boxes.

Cut down the cereal boxes to the height you need that will fit into your drawer. In each of these boxes you can bow store your make-up items. Depending on your space you could organize them by types, eye shadows, eye liners & mascara, lipsticks, hair clips, brushes, etc. Arrange the boxes in your drawer(s) or your make-shift box drawer in the most space efficient manner. When doing this, depending on the depth of your drawer or the box drawer for your closet you can double the space by stacking boxes 2 deep. Just make certain to leave the top level one or two boxes short so they can be easily moved around to easily see what is underneath.

Every three to six months you need to go through your make-up and discard older product. It gathers bacteria like crazy (which is why I don’t recommend buying make-up in large sizes). Get rid of the old boxes and replace with new ones. This will keep the boxes sturdy for use AND keep your drawer clean!

These are my thoughts.
