A bunch of us were chatting online the other day about the chores we dislike the most. We all have one thing we put off because we really don’t enjoy doing it. I really got a chuckle from some of the tasks we don’t like and an even bigger chuckle from the excuses we make not to do them. Ironing was a popular one. When I mentioned I don’t mind ironing, but it used to take so long for me to iron, that I would let stuff pile up until we ran out of clothes that needed ironing. Then I would be short on time and only be able to iron a few pieces. This bugged me. That is until I found a way to cut my ironing time in half.

It is so simple, that you may actually be chuckling yourself when you read this. I was working on a sewing project that called for ironing on a paper bag. Well, I didn’t have anything but paper lunch sacks at the house. So I cut one open and place it on my ironing board, but it wouldn’t stay. I couldn’t use tape to hold it on because the heat from the iron would melt it. So I tried aluminum foil. Guess what? I found the areas I ironed with the aluminum foil holding the bag in place were automatically ironed on both sides!

Now, I have a large piece of foil wrapped around my board. When I iron it takes half the amount of time because I am ironing the top and bottom at the same time! Simple, huh?

These are my thoughts.
