This past week I had been reading some entries from women who are taking part in Peggy’s Simple Woman’s Daybook. I am always inspired & encouraged after reading them. I often walk away from my computer with a smile on my face and a prayer of gratitude in my heart. Then there are those entries that open my eyes to something so simple that I scratch my head in wonderment and think, “How did I miss that?”
This week was no exception. Jennifer Sikora of For Such a Time as This wrote in her entry how she was making bread bowls. I immediately thought about how I find bread bowls for soup to be simple & elegant when dinning out, yet I don’t make them at home. WHY? No reason, just an overlooked item. One of the reasons I like bread bowls is that they help round out a meal and yet simplify it by reducing the amount of dishes needing to be used (bread bowls can be placed on a paper plate and the plate reused if not “dirty”). Another is that it reduces the cost of food. Yet one more is that bread dough can be made in bulk and frozen. No need to store lots of small little breads in your freezer and each time you make them they will be fresh without the time needed to make them from scratch.
These are my thoughts.
